Reaffirming our commitment to promoting sustainable development and the preservation of the environment, we have successfully concluded our ‘Envirocare Month’ campaign, attracting enthusiastic participation from UAE residents, students, and corporate employees.

As part of ‘Envirocare Month,’ which ran through November, we hosted competitions in schools, companies, and various communities to promote recycling and create awareness about its importance in the protection and improvement of the environment. Notably, the campaign has grown in popularity over the years, and this year marks the first time schools and the general public participated in our green initiative.

More than 1,100 students from various schools, along with employees from Imdaad, Dubai Customs, Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), and DP World, as well as members of the public took part in the competitions. The campaign saw an estimated 40 percent increase in the overall volume of recycled material during the Envirocare Month, with an impressive output of nearly 19 tonnes of recycled material. The participants who recycled the largest amount of waste emerged as winners and were awarded prizes and certificates.

Imdaad employees have also participated in a handicraft competition, making the best use of recyclable and other waste materials in the design and construction of useful items, ranging from clothing to furniture.

Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Jamal Abdulla Lootah, Group CEO of Imdaad, said: “As an environmentally conscious company, Imdaad has always remained at the forefront of efforts aimed at translating sustainability ambitions outlined in the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda into meaningful outcomes. Our Envirocare Month campaign is a testimony to our continuing commitment to delivering on this vision to position the nation as the environmental leader in the region. Leveraging the strengths of our long-term partners, the campaign has reached a tremendous achievement in creating greater awareness about the importance of recycling, and we are looking forward to more collaborative endeavors in the future.”

As part of their participation in the competitions, employees from Dubai Customs recycled bottles and cans in a reverse vending machine that was installed at the authority’s premises by Imdaad in 2017. With a dedicated mobile app, Dubai Customs staff can win points by scanning a barcode on the machine and initiating the recycling process by depositing bottles or cans into the machine. Once complete, a summary of the user’s points will be displayed on the app that can be used towards special offers and benefits.
