Imdaad Zero Waste Initiatives in Facilities Management - UAE (1)

The challenge of waste management in the UAE has magnified over the last decade due to population growth and economic activities. As most waste ends up in landfills, generating potent greenhouse gases like methane, the need for zero waste management solutions is more urgent than ever.

The country is taking significant steps in this direction, with Dubai Municipality planning the largest plant in the Middle East to convert solid waste into energy. Backed by an investment of AED 2 billion, this venture is part of Dubai's Integrated Waste Strategy 2021-2041, aimed at best practices in sustainable facilities management, energy conversion, and recycling services.

For those in facilities management, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity. The sector is pivotal in supporting these initiatives, driven by societal responsibility and strategic advantages. Engaging in zero-waste strategies aligns with national goals and provides compelling business benefits, from cost efficiencies to enhanced brand perception. With many sustainable waste management practices and technologies available, it may seem overwhelming to dive in. However, the far-reaching benefits of embracing a zero-waste ethos not only lighten our ecological footprint but also promise a more efficient and cost-effective operational landscape.

Farz

Farz is a state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) with an impressive capacity to handle 1,200 tonnes of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) daily. Employing the latest technologies, the plant is a model for efficient waste management in the UAE. Its automated systems recover a wide range of materials, including HDPE, PET, Aluminum, Ferrous materials, OCC, and Wood, making it a cornerstone in the journey toward zero waste.

Diverting Waste from Landfills

One of the key objectives of Farz is to minimise the amount of waste reaching landfills. Doing so contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, specifically methane, a potent greenhouse gas. The plant reduces 19,250 Kg of CO2 emissions daily, aligning with Dubai's Integrated Waste Strategy 2021-2041.

Education Initiatives

Farz goes beyond waste management by engaging in educational tours for various stakeholders. These tours offer a behind-the-scenes look into the intricacies of material recovery and waste management. Whether it's government departments, businesses, or educational establishments, Farz aims to make the recycling process transparent and educative for all.

Helping Companies Reach Their Environmental Goals

Farz is a strategic partner for companies seeking to achieve their environmental objectives. Through its advanced capabilities, Farz enables businesses to dispose of their waste in a responsible and environment-friendly manner, assisting them in aligning with broader sustainability goals and national initiatives.
